Panetta rumored to have resigned CIA Director

This makes things interesting, if true.

Panetta is said to be extremely angry about the possible prosecution of CIA officers doing their job and has decided to resign in protest.

The rumor is unconfirmed, but given the sourcing I think it is safe to treat it credibly.

Justice Dept. Looking Into Whether Attorneys Broke Law at Guantanamo

Attorney's for the terrorist being held at Gitmo showed their clients photo's of CIA agents. How is this legal? And where is the outrage that a CIA agent was outed?

The Justice Department recently questioned military defense attorneys at Guantanamo Bay about whether photographs of CIA personnel, including covert officers, were unlawfully provided to detainees charged with organizing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Investigators are looking into allegations that laws protecting classified information were breached when three lawyers showed their clients the photographs, the sources said. The lawyers were apparently attempting to identify CIA officers and contractors involved in the agency's interrogation of al-Qaeda suspects in facilities outside the United States, where the agency employed harsh techniques.

It is unclear whether the military lawyers under investigation identified the CIA personnel in the photographs to the al-Qaeda suspects or simply asked the detainees whether they had ever seen them. It is also unclear whether the inquiry involves violations of federal statutes prohibiting the identification of covert CIA officers or violations of military commission rules governing the disclosure of classified information, including to the defendants.

Again I ask...where is the outrage? I thought outing a CIA agent constituted "treason". And I want to know when these agents will showing up on the cover of Vanity Fair.

Baitullah Mehsud Killed

Baitullah Mehsud, leader of the Taliban in Pakistan, was killed by a CIA strike. He is a diabetic and was receiving medical care at his father-in-law's house when the drone hit the home and killed him.

The American government made killing or capturing Mr. Mehsud one of its top priorities this year, and Pakistan considered him its No. 1 enemy because of the widespread violence he unleashed across the country. His death would provide a boost for forces battling a resurgent Taliban at a time when President Obama is trying to marshal support for a coordinated antiterrorism strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

With all the criticism Obama threw at Bush over the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I am glad to see he is continuing the Bush policies of using unmanned drones.

Isn't that what they are supposed to do?

A new scandal is on the horizon and it has Dick Cheney's fingerprints alllll over it. Super secret, inside information has been leaked that the CIA had a plan to eliminate Osama Bin Laden and his guys. Shhh...don't tell anyone. It's a secret. No one is supposed to know that the CIA might have had something in the works to rid the world of the dude behind the man-made disasters....and Cheney is the one who cooked it up.

With Speaker Pelosi caught in the web of her own deceit over what the CIA told her about “torture,” and the Obama administration in the middle of its latest 180-degree reversal over CIA interrogators (Attorney General Holder is now considering prosecutions despite Obama’s promise of no prosecutions), Democrats have trumped up a charge that the CIA, on the orders of Vice President Dick Cheney, failed to notify Congress that it was contemplating — not implementing, but essentially brainstorming about — plans to kill or capture top al-Qaeda figures.

Isn't this one of those things that we know is true but we don't talk about. Kinda like when your mother-in-law says she is coming to visit for two weeks and you are dreading it. You don't mention your misery during the time she's there, but everyone knows she's a nag...they just don't talk about it.

We need full disclosure. Wait. No we don't.

Pelosi v CIA

Democrats have spent years demanding a "truth commission" into interrogations, so you'd think such public disclosure would be welcome. Ah, that was when a different guy was in the White House and before Mrs. Pelosi had made her own veracity an issue. Suddenly, she's all for secrecy. And sure enough, Intelligence Committee Democrats lined up to protect their leader and defeated the Hoekstra amendment on a party line vote. This follows Democratic rejection of a resolution by Utah Republican Rob Bishop to initiate a bipartisan investigation of Mrs. Pelosi's accusation.
